For shoppers

  • Stay aware of your surroundings. Look up from your phone often, especially in the AR view.
  • Watch for traffic. Don't hunt near roads, car-park lanes, or railways, and always follow the Highway Code when crossing.
  • Never hunt while driving or cycling. If you're moving too fast, the app won't let you collect — stop somewhere safe first.
  • Respect people and property. Only enter places you're allowed to be. Don't trespass, and be considerate of shop staff and other customers.
  • Mind the weather and your surroundings. Uneven ground, water, and low light all need extra care.
  • Under 16s should hunt with an adult. Hichers isn't for children under 13.

You're in control. Offers are optional and you never have to reach a spot that feels unsafe or is hard to get to. If in doubt, skip it — there'll be another.

For shopkeepers placing offers

When you drop an offer, you choose where it sits. Please place offers responsibly:

  • Put offers on your own premises, in a safe, publicly-accessible spot (for example, near your entrance or counter).
  • Never place an offer on a road, car-park lane, railway, or anywhere that would draw someone into traffic or danger.
  • Don't place offers on property you don't own or control, or anywhere that would cause a nuisance or obstruction.
  • Set a sensible collect radius so shoppers gather in a safe area, not spilling into a roadway.

Reporting a problem

If you come across an offer placed somewhere unsafe or inappropriate, please tell us at support@aureans.com and we'll review and remove it.

Your responsibility

Hichers builds in safeguards — safety reminders, a speed limit on collecting, and placement rules for shops — but we can't control the real-world places you visit. You take part in the hunt at your own risk and are responsible for your own safety and for obeying all laws, traffic rules, and property rights while you do. Please see our User Terms for the full terms.
